What the course covers

The Certified SAFe® Release Train Engineer course is a 3-day, instructor-led program (virtual or in-person). You’ll learn to organize and facilitate the events that make an ART succeed, and practice the skills you’ll use on day one as an RTE.

• Applying SAFe to scale Lean and Agile development across the enterprise
• Building a high-performing ART through servant leadership and coaching
• Facilitating PI Planning and enabling effective execution
• Fostering relentless improvement with Inspect & Adapt
• Coordinating multiple ARTs and value streams in a Solution Train

Exam at a glance

The first exam attempt is included with your course. Retakes are typically a small per-attempt fee, and the certification is renewed annually.

Prerequisites

There are no strict prerequisites to attend, but Scaled Agile recommends the following for the best chance of success in the class and on the exam:

• 3+ years of experience in software development, testing, business analysis, product, or project management
• Experience in Scrum or Kanban, and exposure to PI Planning
• A background as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or Program Manager is ideal
